5th Annual LSE/Imperial Workshop in Environmental Economics

20 - 21 June 2022

The workshop brings together top scholars from around the world to share their latest research in applied environmental and development economics.

We are pleased to announce that the fifth LSE/Imperial Workshop in Environmental Economics will take place on 20-21 June 2022. This year we have partnered with Imperial College London and the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment. The workshop will bring together top scholars from around the world to share their latest research in applied environmental and development economics. The workshop is also a great platform to identify areas where further academic work is needed and to foster new collaborations.

Workshop programme
The programme consists of full paper presentations, a session of egg-timer presentations for early career researchers (PhDs/Postdocs) and a keynote talk by Prof Maximilian Auffhammer (Berkeley).

In-person and/or Hybrid
We are currently planning to host the workshop in person at LSE. However, we leave the option open of organising the workshop online or in some hybrid form in case the COVID-19 pandemic and/or uncertainty around international travel make it difficult to gather in London. We will make a final decision in due course but the option to present and participate remotely will remain available.

Attending the workshop
Workshop attendance is primarily targeted at LSE and Imperial College faculty, postdocs, and research students. However, we are happy to extend the invitations to a few more external guests. To keep the workshop as informal as possible, registrations are limited to 100 people, and we will therefore unlikely be able to accept all requests from externals.

If you would like to be considered, please register by filling out the online form.

We will let you know about our decision by June 15.

Attendants are expected to participate in the entire 2-day workshop. There is no fee for attending.

All attendants (including LSE and Imperial affiliates) must be registered by June 13 at 5:00 PM (London time) to receive login information to connect to the online sessions or be added to the list of in-person attendants.

For speakers
Invited speakers are expected to participate in the entire 2-day workshop and there is no fee for attending. If the workshop will take place in person, we will cover and arrange up to 3 nights of accommodation for invited speakers. Meals, snacks and drinks will also be provided free of charge during the workshop. Participants are responsible for paying for and arranging their travel arrangements (flights/trains).

2021 Workshop

In 2021 we partnered with Imperial College London and the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment.

The programme consisted of full paper presentations, a session of egg-timer presentations for early career researchers (PhDs/Postdocs), and a policy session. We will also had keynotes talks by Janet Currie (Princeton) and James Stock (Harvard).

The workshop brought together top scholars from around the world to share their latest research in applied environmental and development economics. The workshop was also a great platform to identify areas where further academic work is needed and to foster new collaborations.
